OCP 0.4 working draft
Version 0.4 defines a complete core protocol and Portable AI History profile family, with schemas, fixtures, registries, HTTP and offline bindings, and machine-readable conformance assertions.
Status and source of truth
This publication is an editor’s working draft. The normative prose, normative JSON Schemas, normative registries, and machine-readable assertions are the sources of truth. Generated DOCX and PDF editions are publication artifacts.
The checked-in package passes its own local validation suite. No independent provider, adapter, or client implementation is named as a system under test, so interoperability remains an open evidence gate.
Core protocol
The core defines nine top-level record families plus common envelopes, typed references, provenance, integrity, extensions, lifecycle constraints, and an HTTP binding.

- Conversation Profile
- Portable message graphs, typed content parts, branches, redactions, citations, tools, agents, integrity, and round-trip comparison.
- Artifact Profile
- Logical artifacts, byte representations, custody, retrievability, integrity, rights, accessibility, and lineage.
- Provider Adapter Framework
- Declared mappings, deterministic runs, source locators, drift policy, hostile fixtures, and explicit loss accounting.
